New Colombo Plan Scholarship

 

Position: InternationalReporter

Date: September 2016

 

Funded by the New Colombo Plan, The University of Queensland, sent twenty students to Mumbai, India to report on local news stories and act as foreign correspondants for their stay.

 

Key Achievements:

  • Sourcing stories

  • Arranging key interviews

  • Liaising with local contacts

  • Navigating a foreign country with little support 

  • Field reporting

  • Producing content for radio, print, film, galleries, and multi-media presentations

Position: Intern

Date: April 2016

 

Ten Eyewitness News is at the forefront of Australian Commercial broadcasting.  Eyewitness News provides comprehensive coverage of local, national and overseas news.

 

Key Achievements:

  • Assisting journalists on location and aiding in anyway possible

  • Writing scripts for tv and preparing them for subbing

  • Recording voice overs for tv packages

  • Observing the 5pm live broadcast of Ten Eyewitness News Brisbane in both the studio and production booth

  • Building foundational knowledge of ENPS script writing and Viz Easy Cut editing software

  • Taking on any tasks assigned by the COS

  • Filming several PTCs and constructing TV news packages

Position: Intern

Date: March 2016

 

The ABC has been delivering the highest standard of news to         Australian's for over eighty years.  Producing content across mediums likes television, radio and online, the ABC remains as one of the country's most reliable sources for daily news.

 

Key Achievements:

  • Assisting journalists on location

  • Writing copy for tv and radio

  • Recording voice overs for both tv and radio packages

  • Observing the 7pm live broadcast of ABC News Brisbane

  • Building foundational knowledge of Aurora Browse and iNews (Netia)

  • Taking on any tasks assigned by the COS

  • Filming a PTC and constructing a TV news package

Position: Intern

Date: February 2015 – May 2015

 

Starts At Sixty is a Brisbane based website aimed at engaging older audiences in an online community.  The website writes articles about current affairs, entertainment, books, travel, and many other popular, conversation-starting topics.

 

 

Key Achievements:

  • Contributing 4-6 articles per week

  • Creating unique articles, all about varying topics

  • Writing content about subjects previously unknown to me, with assumed expertise

  • Writing for a mature audience – Starts At Sixty required content producers to write articles as though the author was ‘over sixty’ and part of the community

  • Moderating the websites Facebook comments

  • Taking on any tasks assigned by the editor

  • Learning about website publication, social media analytics, and meeting targets
